County Environmental Initiative Program

Growing Greener II established the County Environmental Initiative program and authorized $90 million of the Growing Greener bond fund to be available for capitol improvement projects designated by Pennsylvania counties. Here you will find information explaining how counties may access their allotment of Growing Greener II bond money and what types of projects may qualify for funding under the County Environmental Initiative Program.

To see copies of the materials mailed to each County and learn more about the Program, follow the steps below:

Step 1: Letter from the County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania(PDF, 108K).  Read the letter sent by CCAP announcing that $90 million in funding is available to counties under the new Growing Greener II initiative.

Step 2: Letter from Governor Rendell, with Project Lists.  Read the letters that Governor Rendell sent to Pennsylvania counties welcoming them to the Growing Greener County Environmental Initiative Program.  Included with each letter is a list of suggested projects for that county.  Counties may choose a project from the list or designate their own projects.

Step 3: Growing Greener II Program Fact Sheets.  Browse fact sheets which describe each GGII program category that county bond funding may be used for.  For questions on any specific program or to see if your project idea would qualify, contact the state agency staff person on the fact sheet .  If you are not a county representative but have a good idea for a project, you may contact your county to apply for funding under the County Environmental Initiative Program.
